Lesslides is built so that your documents stay with you. There is no account, no server of our own, no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools and no third-party code.
Processing on your device
Scanning, cropping, image enhancement, text recognition (OCR), editing, signing and PDF export run entirely on your device. The AI features (title, document type, summary, key fields, tags, questions about a document, rewriting) use Apple Intelligence by default, also on your device. Translations are handled by the system's Translation framework.
Optional: Claude with your own API key
Only if you add your own Claude API key in Settings, turn on “Use Claude” and accept the notice can Lesslides use Claude, in three cases:
- for requests you explicitly send to Claude;
- for the automatic analysis of new scans, if Apple Intelligence is unavailable on the device;
- for rewriting text, if Apple Intelligence is unavailable on the device.
The recognized text of the document concerned (for rewriting, only the selected text) is then sent encrypted directly to the Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com). Page images are not sent.
- Anthropic processes the text as your provider under your own API terms with Anthropic. Morav IT does not receive this data.
- Your API key is stored only in this device's Keychain and is not synced.
- Lesslides keeps a local cloud history (document, date, provider, model, purpose) so you can always see what was sent; every request is recorded before it is sent, even if it then fails. You can clear it in Settings › Privacy. The sent text itself is not stored in the history.
Stored data
- Documents (page images, recognized text, edits, insights) are stored in the app's container (in the Files app under “On My iPhone” or “On My iPad” › Lesslides) and are accessible to you there.
- Signatures are stored in the app's protected area on the device.
- Settings are stored in the app's user defaults.
- Spotlight and Shortcuts: so you can find documents in system search, Lesslides indexes titles and text locally in Spotlight. With the app lock on, only titles are indexed and Shortcuts return no document content.
Files are encrypted with the system's data protection. Like all app data, they may be included in your device backups (iCloud or computer) if you have backups turned on.
Auto-Save Folder
If you turn on Settings › Auto-Save, Lesslides saves every finished document as a searchable PDF to the folder you chose (by default “Exports” in the app's folder) and keeps it up to date. Files are written only to the folder you chose; to write there again, Lesslides keeps a bookmark of the folder on the device. If you choose a cloud folder (for example iCloud Drive, OneDrive or Google Drive), the provider's app transfers the files under that provider's terms; Lesslides itself sends nothing to the provider. PDFs saved there stay in the folder when you delete the document in Lesslides.
Permissions
- Camera: only to scan documents.
- Photos: only the photos you pick for import.
- Face ID / Touch ID / Optic ID: only to unlock the app. The system performs the check; Lesslides receives no biometric data.
- Network: only for Claude requests, and only if you turned on Claude as described above.
Deletion
Deleted documents stay in the trash for 30 days and are then deleted permanently. You can empty the trash at any time. Deleting the app removes all data in its container; you can remove your Claude API key in Settings beforehand.
